Flashback
Its the 1st of October. I’m looking forward to this month specially on the 22nd. It will be my daughter and husband’s birthday. Our daughter’s 1st birthday and Daddy’s 39th.
Lets flash back almost a year ago on Oct 22:
Around 2 a.m.
Woke up with a sudden pain in my stomach and lower back. It was sharp enough to have woken me up from a deep slumber. Got up and crouched by the end of the bed while i had a big contraction. I said to myself ” this is it!”.Ralph woke up and saw me, he knew right away that i was in pain he asked if i wanted to go to the hospital already, my response was a quick nod of the head and “yes”. My due date was really on my husbands birthday so on our last OBGYN appointment we asked to have an induction on that day and was scheduled at 6 am on Oct.22,2007. We got to the hospital way early than planned and i didn’t need to have an induction at all since i was already in labor. But still they gave me the Pitocin as planned to speed up my labor. I gave birth to my daughter at 3:12 p.m. it was so calm and humbling. As soon as they put the baby on my stomach i cried. I was just bursting with emotions, love, relief, gratitude. Here was this child, she needs me and I’m no longer my own. Daddy of course got the best present ever, his little girl on his birthday. Mother-in-law was there in the birthing room and that explains her closeness and attachment to our daughter. She is devoted to her. Ralph called my mother and sister on the phone when the baby was being cleaned tears were shed on both side of the world Philippines and United States.
We never really got to celebrate my husband’s birthday for all the focus and attention was on the baby and i want to make it up to him. I’m debating weather to have a big party for both of them or just a simple one with just immediate family present. It’s there first birthday together ever and i want it to be memorable.For all i know the baby will be more interested on the cake than anything else. Even if she doesn’t have any chompers yet she could still dig in on a big slice of birthday cake.
To my firstborn and husband, i love you with all my heart.
