I just read an article that some young teenagers in hollywood are sporting this purity ring. What is it you may ask?

According to Wikipedia - Purity ring, Chastity ring,Promise ring  - Originated in the United States in the 1990’s to christian affiliated sexual abstinence group. Ring are worn usually on the left hand to signify one’s purity or desire and commitment to  abstain from sex before marriage.

Are this young men and women in Hollywood just wearing them for show or are they really committed to what the ring is really about ? Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers and Selena Gomez wear this so called rings. But why do you have to wear them? I really hope they know what they are doing.Young kids and teenager look up to them and they can be influential.I would hate to see one day in the news that Selena or Miley is pregnant. In Hollywood is there still teenagers that are virgins? With the way Hollywood perceives sex and how women dress. Come on! It would really be a miracle if there is even 10 teenagers that are virgins before they reach 18.

I was a virgin when i came here to America to marry my husband. I kept myself pure for my future husband,it was my choice and it was something that i could give to him that is very special.Wearing rings was not something i had to wear to show that i was committed.I feel like that ring itself puts pressure on the wearer. Before wearing the rings it has to be a conscious choice and not just think about the present but about the future. Will they be able to hang on to stay pure and abstain from sex? Who knows,maybe ill be wrong this time and maybe just maybe,someone will really stand up among the crowd and be a real role model of our kids today.

Last night after i was done with my blogging i crawled into bed just when husband said i was right in time. He was watching this movie,i glanced at the screen and knew right away what movie was on.

It was I AM SAM. Shawn Penn as Sam,and Dakota Fanning as Lucy. A story of a Man with a mental capacity that of a 7 yr old. His struggles on raising a little girl on his own and the connection between a father and a child.This movie is a tear jerker,i could not help but cry watching while holding my husbands hand. It was like looking at my husband and kayla.I felt all the emotions and i really connected with all the character.Shawn Penn outdid himself in this movie, he was brilliant, Dakota was such a little charmer in this movie and i couldnt help but fall in love with her.

When it was almost over husband wiped my tears and whispered to me

“Now, you know how i feel when kayla was taken from me and why our bond is so strong”

I just nodded my head and kept on teary up.Like what Sam said all you need is LOVE. If only we see life through Sam it would be much easier.And it was true when he said that being a good parent is being patient,understanding and love.It matters not the difference of the mind but what counts is what is in our hearts.That is the most basic yet the most important lesson and gift we can give to our children.

It was open day at Kayla’s school today so,Me,Ralph,Kayla and the baby went to her school.I finally got to see her classroom. Around 2 weeks after she started school we got a letter stating that she will be transferred to another room and to another teacher. Ralph got to meet the teacher and got to see her school and see her new classroom a couple of weeks ago.

When we got there the school was already packed with parents and of course kids. The baby was so engrossed on people watching and would smile at other little kids. Kayla was in her element,she was like a flower in bloom. She showed us everything in the classroom and was so proud to show off her little sister. She was such a little chatter box and its entertaining watching 5 yr old talk and make conversation . Its like they go off into there own little world were adults are invited but rarely see what they see,hear what they hear and understand what they say. I guess when we reached adulthood that kid part in us got lost in translation. We were so proud of Kayla, she has gone a long way and its hard to believe she is really growing up. Just last night i was looking through some old pictures of us and she was just a little girl yesterday but now she is a big girl! Today, I got to see how much she really enjoys going to school ,learning and developing her social skills. She still has a long way to go but with her eagerness and willingness to learn nothing is off limits. We just hope that her love for school will continue, and her thirst for knowledge be quenched.

My daughter just got her hair in a ponytail a couple of days ago. Finally,she looks like the little girl that she is. She lost most of her hair when she was just a tiny little bean. She had a bad case of Cradle Cap. I felt so sorry for my little baby. At first we really didn’t pay much attention to it as i have read most babies will eventually get it. I started to worry when it got so red and when it started to ooze and her hair was all sticky. I looked It up and this is what I found out about it.  

( seborrheic dermatitis) a minor inflammatory disease of the scalp mostly common in infants and younger children. Cradle Cap appears this thick , oily, yellowish or brownish patches on the scalp. The skin itself often appears red, flaky and irritated underneath the oily patches.  

Possibly due to the overactive sebaceous glands in newborn infants due to the hormones of the mother while they will were still in the womb. Cradle cap is not cause due to poor hygiene nor is it due to allergy. 

• Apply oil on the cradle cap and letting it stay for a few min or overnight and brush with fine tooth comb gently

• Dandruff shampoos but not really recommended. Only for severe cases ( like my daughters case)

• Warm decaffeinated tea ( my guess for rinsing)

• Comfrey rinse made by boiling 2 ounces of water of comfrey root in one quart of water. Once cooled down rubbed onto the affected area with washcloth. Wash with very mild shampoo after

For some time now,my baby Kaitlyn has been my Internet buddy. I do some of my blog hopping,entrecard dropping and email check in the mornings. I have made a little corner of her to play while I’m on the net. She lets me do my thing and she plays around her little prison corner,lol. When she starts to get bored,she whines and starts to cry. Of course,i cant just let her cry.Mama has to pick her up and let her stand in my chair while i hold her with one hand and type with the other. Since becoming a mom you have got to learn to be a multi-tasker. Its a big must for the job. Often she sits on my lap and just pounces on the keyboard and tries to imitate mama. She has been doing that lately,i had to find other means to occupy her.Then got an idea,went down the basement and rummaged through the boxes and finally came up with one brand new computer keyboard. Brought it upstairs,put her back in her little prison corner with all her toys and she was happy as can be. She was just banging away and typing in her own little way. Would look up once in a while and give me that toothless smile i so adore. She loves being my Internet buddy in short, she loves me!!

Whew,chasing around a 10 1/2 month old is very very draining but fun. At exactly 10 month old she took her first few steps and since then,she has been a little energizer bunny always on the go. I just spent half of my day chasing her around the house and making sure she does not get herself into trouble. My husband and I have yet to baby proof the house and it has to be done soon.We really didn’t think about planning ahead for the reason that we never thought she would be walking this early. I still cant believe how those chubby short legs could support her body now and be strong enough to walk. She just learn how to stand by herself without holding on to anything yesterday. It was hilarious watching her maneuver into different position finding the best leverage.She finally figured out by crouching first with feet wide apart and pulling herself up. Mind you,it was such a challenge to her,she didn’t give up.Kept on trying and trying until she finally got the hang of it.We cheered her on and applauded her on her achievement. My heart melted when she smiled,went over to me and put her head on my lap. It was her way for saying “mama i did it!”.

 Next month will be another big milestone,she will be turning 1 and celebrate hers and her Daddy’s birthday for the first time ever. I cant wait to see if she will blow out her candles or just dig into the cake like the little piggy that she is. I’m getting sentimental now. Being a mother brings out emotions I never thought i had.My daughters bring out the best in me.
